Curriculum for the 21st century

  • We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, which enables all students to engage in core subjects and, at KS3 (ages 11 – 14), the whole range of national curriculum subjects. All students study citizenship as part of their entitlement.

  • At KS4 (ages 14 – 16), while students are encouraged to retain some balance, we also try to introduce a degree of flexibility, which includes vocational opportunities in up to eight different subjects, including health and social care, catering and hospitality, hair and beauty, physical education, travel and tourism, and business.

  • Our Sixth Form (ages 16 – 19) offer is inclusive. A mix of vocational and more traditional academic subjects is available at KS5, and we seek to ensure that the curriculum offer meets external requirements at the same time as being progressive.

  • We are exploring ways of expanding our vocational offer in partnership with other schools and colleges in Tower Hamlets, especially in Hospitality and Catering and in Multimedia courses.

  • We have created a new faculty to bring vocational, work based and enterprise education together. It is working to promote the status of vocational courses.

  • Our Work Related Learning Coordinator works with the Vocational Faculty to ensure that all students have opportunities to experience work related learning, including work experience placements for all Year 10 students and enterprise.
